World AIDS Day - 1st December

World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the  AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. It is common to hold memorials to honor persons who have died from HIV/AIDS on this day.


Some facts:



  • More than 90.000 people are living with HIV in the UK.
  • Over a quarter of them are undiagnosed.
  • Over 34 million people living with HIV or AIDS worldwide.
  • The avarage age living with HIV is between 33-40.
  • Every 12 sec. a pupil gets infected with HIV.
  • Over 25 million people have died from the disease.
